I started workin in mental health services in 1999 and conducted therapy for over 18 years. I focus on clients’ needs, preferences, and strengths as the basis of my work. I am experienced in working with teens, adults, and families to address concerns including:
Shame, grief, loss
ADHD, anxiety, stress, anger, and depression
PTSD, trauma, and dissociation
Life transitions (i.e. teen years to adulthood)
Parenting adolescents and children
Serious and persistent mental illness and mood disorders (including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, etc.)
Unique challenges for immigrant, multi-ethnic couples, and families
Traumatic brain injuries
I draw from several therapeutic traditions, including family systems, CBT, solution-focused and insight-based therapies, as well as EMDR and other strategies for working through trauma.
By identifying strengths and hopes, my clients and I work together to define goals and a plan to reach them. We work on effective communication, building connection, and helpful problem-solving as a means for the client to lead the life they desire.
